Is this an official GHIN handicap?
No. We use USGA-compliant formulas to calculate your index, but we're not a licensed GHIN service. For tournament play, check with your club about official handicap requirements.
How many rounds do I need to get a handicap?
You need a minimum of 3 rounds to establish an initial handicap index. Your handicap becomes more accurate as you add rounds, up to a maximum of 20 rounds used in the calculation.
How is my handicap index calculated?
Your handicap index is the average of your best 8 score differentials from your most recent 20 rounds, multiplied by 0.96. Score differentials are calculated using the formula: (Score - Course Rating) × 113 / Slope Rating.
What's the difference between handicap index and course handicap?
Your handicap index is your portable number that represents your playing ability. Course handicap is the number of strokes you get at a specific course/tee, calculated from your index using the course's slope rating.
